my story...

My name is Tom and my story is full of twists and turns, joys, but also difficult moments that have led me to this point - to motivate children to move and to write children's sports books, which I share with you today.

When the doctors banned me from playing ice hockey, it was one of the hardest moments of my life. I had to say goodbye to something I loved. But instead of giving up, I found a new path. Inline skating became my refuge and soon I discovered other sports that brought me joy and new challenges.

I decided to pass on that joy and passion. Over the years, thousands of children have passed through my hands at sports courses, outdoor schools or summer camps. Every smile, every overcoming of fear and every small success has reassured me that I am on the right path. My mission is to show children that movement is not only important, but above all fun. Because every child deserves to discover their own way to enjoy the joy of sport!

I am convinced that the greatest purpose of our lives is our children, so when my daughter Sabi was born, I have to admit that that moment completely changed my life. She became my driving force, my biggest inspiration to keep moving even more. Suddenly, I wanted to do as much as I could - not only for her, but for other children as well. I took up skating, both on ice and on wheels, skiing, cycling, swimming, athletics, gymnastics, fitness and health exercises or sports - general sports development. I have done children's days, sporting events, festivals and competitions. I tried to bring joy and movement into the lives of everyone around me. But most of all I wanted my daughter to experience the best - lots of fun, sport and time together. I was, in short, a "Dad in Motion."

But life isn't always what we paint it to be. My work consumed me so much that I began to lose my balance. Gradually my marriage fell apart and I lost the footing I had. Then came the next blow - cancer, which reminded me how fragile life can be. When I finally started to get back on my feet, my daughter came in saying that she was "big" and that our activities together were no longer what she wanted to do. She had new interests, a new world. And I was left alone, confused and restless.

I decided I needed a change. I went abroad, traveled a bit, and finally landed here on this beautiful island called Mauritius. Here, amongst the palm trees, white sandy beaches and a tranquility I had never known in my life, my eyes were opened. No rush, no stress, just a new world full of inspiration. I discovered a new culture, new people, and most importantly - I rediscovered myself. I began to write. SPACE TOM was born. The place that gave me peace also gave me new ideas. And so came the first stories that are now the basis of my children's sports books.

After a year on this beautiful island, I returned to Europe for my daughter, because she needed me there. This is the moment why we are parents. We try to be around to advise, help, and show the best path in a new stage of life as for Sabi it was to pass the difficult entrance exams and get into her dream high school.

And what's the best part? Sabi's mission was successful and that's why I am back here in Mauritius where I found the love of my life. She makes me feel complete and happy again. And what's more, thanks to her, I will be "Dad in Motion" again! We are expecting the birth of our first child. Life is full of surprises and I know there are more amazing stories to come, which I will be happy to share with you.

Today, I don't spend time on the field from morning to night, I'm not the workholic I used to be. I'm on the field less, but more intensely. I enjoy every moment with kids, and adults, all the more. Whether at sports camps, fitness camps and lessons or inline skating courses. All these moments have a much deeper value for me now. As they say - sometimes less is more.

As for the books I write, they are not just about sports. They are about children's imagination, about the joy of movement, about values like fair-play, respect and cooperation. They're about adventure that draws children into a world where anything is possible. The stories in my books are there to inspire - to let children know that it's not about being the best, but about doing what they enjoy and enjoying every moment. Whether it's dancing, running, skating, or just playing with friends.

We all have a story. And each of us can do something if we believe in ourselves. If they enjoy what they do. That's the message I want to convey to children through my books, activities and stories.

If you're interested in my story, if you're looking for something that will inspire your children, make them laugh and get them moving and imaginative, I'd love it if you'd reach for one of my books or come and play sports and exercise with me. Enter the world of SPACE TOM, a world where adventure and movement never end and boundaries exist only in your mind.

I look forward to exploring a world full of joy, movement and amazing stories with you and your children.

Yours DAD IN MOTION
