MY STORY BEGINS IN JAVA!
Hello my friends,
I'm here again. Before I continue talking about planet Eunemio, I'd like to tell you a little bit more about me. I'm not just any tiger - I'm the last of my kind. So today I'm going to tell you my story.
I come from the tropical island of Java in Asia. You may know it, it's one of the many beautiful islands that belong to a country called Indonesia. The island of Java was my first home.
No tigers live on this island today. But there used to be many Javan tigers, which was my species. Many animals have subspecies and each one is a little different from the other. Some differences you can tell at a glance, others you can't. That's why you can see other species of tigers on Earth today, but unfortunately the Javan tiger is no longer one of them.
For example, the largest of the tigers, the Ussuri tiger, also known as the Siberian tiger, lives in the Far East in Russia and China. It is the largest cat-like beast in the world, even bigger than a lion! On the other hand, the smallest tiger is the Sumatran tiger, which also lives in Indonesia, but on a different island - Sumatra.
Do you know what we tigers like to eat? We like to hunt wild pigs, most of all at dusk. Our striped colouring makes us almost invisible in the forest. We blend in perfectly and are really hard to spot.
Now I'm going to tell you a part of my story that is sad, but also very important to understand the context. It was when I became the last tiger of my kind.
It was at dusk when I saw my parents for the last time. We went on my first real hunt. Dad took us to a rock above the river that was covered with bushes and small trees. He said it was the best place to hunt - one big jump and a wild pig was caught. Usually only Daddy went hunting, but this time we all went. Mummy wanted me to study carefully and become a skilled hunter.
Suddenly we heard a crackling in the bushes by the river. Papa thought it was pigs and looked at Mama. One look and they both knew exactly what to do. Sometimes one look is more than a few words. Then Daddy turned to me and said in a low voice: "Stay here in the bushes and just watch Mommy and me, understand?" Those were the last words I heard from him.
But they were not wild pigs, but poachers. Poachers are evil people who kill defenseless animals like us tigers, mainly for our beautiful fur. Killing any animal for its fur is very bad and poachers are truly some of the most evil people in the world.
Listening to my daddy saved my life. Even though I sometimes disobeyed them before and my parents were angry with me, I realized then how important it was to follow their advice. That's how I survived.
I'm sure everyone knows this - sometimes almost everyone wants to do things their own way, but in the end they find out that their parents are right. Even though they left me then, their words and teachings stayed with me and helped me survive in the jungle.
But my story is far from over! I'm sure you're wondering how I got from the island of Java to the planet Eunemio and then back here on Earth, right? That's a long story, which I'm happy to tell you. So don't forget to follow my blog. You'll be hearing more about my next adventure soon.
